Weekend Project: Diaper Wipes Case

There is something about color-coordinated items that soothe my soul (probably has something to do with the OCD area of my brain). As I prepared for my new baby, I self-soothed with a whole collection of organizing items to match my brown and green diaper bag. I found the cutest print on sale at Joanne's Fabrics (which you may recognize from my snack-pack) and got started.
From various google searches, I found patterns for the various things I made.
Pictured here today is the Diaper wipes case I decorated. All I used was my trusty glue-gun, some foam (to soften the flat sides),some ribbon and a button.
Here is the tutorial I followed. This blog also shows a diaper case, which will be my next project.
Coming soon to a computer screen near you:  the matching wet bag and  burp cloths.

Quick Craft: Weekend Project

Like any preschooler, my daughter loves disney Playhouse-  especially Jungle Junction. One Saturday morning I was looking for a quick craft to make with her, and came across a BeetleBug from this show. It was the quickest, easiest and cutest little craft ever. Unfortunately, I can't find the exact location where I got the instructions, but it was on the Disney Preschool Craft Site.

I used a sock that had lost it's mate, and filled it with beans. I cut off the end of the sock and filled it before I sewed the end closed, but on the site they just hot-glued it. Then Kaylee (my daughter) cut out the eyes, and I hot-glued (my glue gun,my best friend) them on and I let her put the 4 little wool balls on as legs once I had already put the glue on. The mouth is a piece of wool.

It took about 10 minutes to make, and my daughter has not put her BeetleBug down since.

 Love and hotglue,
Kerry the Momster

PS> For my frugal and upcycling friends, this is a great reuse for an old sock.

Friday Fun: Robot Onesie

A lovely Momster, named Aggie, has an acute eye for clean, colorful, design. In fact I recently featured her onesie store called Nerdsies (Geek Chic, super-soft onesies). For her baby shower of her first born she designed cute little robots to use as the invitation and decorative theme. I found them adorable and told her as much, so she sent me the pictures of them. I cut out little felt shapes to recreate Aggie's designs and sewed them onto onesies I bought on clearance and Voila! I have cute little robot onesies.

This was my first one, so it is not as neat as I would've liked, but I will continue trying. My next addition will be robot bibs.

Love and creation,
